LAVANI MUSIC FROM THE SOUTH INDIA

Generally Lavani  a romantic song sung by a lady who longs for her lover and waiting for her . But this is more specifically used in the Love towards God more particularly Lord Krishna

Lavani music consists of three major genres which are Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada  and Telugu. The musical score for Lavani Dance Opera is composed of the traditional hard beats from India. The background music is mainly in any language and is a beautiful mix of melodic keyboard notes accompanied by traditional dance sequences. The instrumentation of the dance is unique to India and has been used in numerous classical ballets such as Lakhmi “Surya Namaskar”, Varma’s “Shiva” and also in the work of Ashok Balayan. Another prominent feature is that unlike most ballets, the entire ballet is performed on the ‘shakti’.

The Marathi singers are known for their passion, spirituality and excellent diction. They are the most common genre of singers who give special attention to their vocal range, tone and phrasing while developing the music to an impressive degree. However, they have a huge competition with other people who have a vast talent in the field. The songs and dances have the ability to blend well with the background and are very effective. The main refrain of the particular genre is that it doesn’t use heavy metal sound. One other key aspect which is worth mentioning is that unlike other types of folk music which are sung by a single voice, in Lavani the vocals are given by a group of people also.

Some of the most popular and renowned singers of all times of this genre of    Lavani music    are Vithobai Narayagaonkar, Kantabai Satarkar,   Managala Bansode,Sandhya Mane etc. All these singers have made significant contribution to the field and have achieved fame in the states of India. Most of the times, the girls sing in Indian languages l and some of them even sing in English. A notable feature of this folk music from the state of Tamil Nadu is that it uses the traditional instruments like the mandolin, fiddle, guitar, violin, drum etc. However, all this can be combined with contemporary instruments like the piano and the keyboard also.
