Creation of Earth as mentioned in Genesis. Dating all creation is an attempt to give an estimated age of Earth, specifically of the universe or the time period of the universe as known through the oldest known origin myths of different religious traditions. Various different religious ideas held that the planet Earth, or indeed the whole Universe, was created in a single creative act by one or many gods from the beginning of time. Through the ages, there have been different theories on how the creation of Earth took place and which ones are favored by different creationists. The Christian creationists believe that the Earth was created on a special day, namely, the creation, and that Adam and Eve were the first people on the planet Earth. They further claim that the Earth was populated at some point with animals like dinosaurs, pre-human beings and various other species.
However, there is no scientific evidence to support the claims that the Earth was created in days. Various recent researches by leading scientists have concluded that the earth is actually a very old planet that has experienced several periods in its history where it was in a very dense construction or had a massive atmosphere, as seen in the cores of some meteorites. The youngest date for the planet’s formation comes from the Hadelong geochronometer, which uses a very precise technique called the YAG technique to determine the exact date of formation. Though this technique is highly accurate, it too has its limitations and this is the reason why a precise date is not determined for the creation of Earth.
The next oldest creation date comes from the Tungsten cycle which can be dated to three thousand years ago. Through the cycles, rocks and other evidences are found that point to the existence of ancient Egyptian and Chaldean stone works. In addition to this, radiocarbon dates have also shown the presence of ancient peoples having existed on Earth thousands of years before the birth of Christ. This proves that Christ did indeed live during the time of ancient Egyptian gods and also that the Egyptian builders could be regarded as the first people on the surface of the Earth.
Young earth creationists believe that the chronology of events which they support is more accurate than the scientific method used by archeologists and scientists who use different techniques. They tend to look for gaps in the chronology and interpret these as God’s intervention through his word or his actions on the surface of the Earth. For instance, if there is a gap of about thirty-six thousand years between the oldest and the youngest archaeological finds, the creationists might say that this is an evidence that God did not rest until he had finished creating the Earth. The same thing can be said for the idea that Adam and Eve were the first people, since they were the only people on the surface of the Earth.
Many creationists consider themselves as having discovered certain proofs for their ideas regarding the chronology of events. For example, the theory that the flood occurred in the year twelve of their creation, according to the modern scientific consensus, is considered to be one of these proofs. The argument is that the flood occurred when the continents began to settle and the seas started to expand.
However, there are also other possibilities which are not based on the chronology of events as explained by modern scientific research. The idea that the animals in the Noah’s ark lived for nearly two million years is also considered as a creationist theory. This idea is supported by some archeological findings. The fact that all forms of vegetation appear after the beginning of the Common Era, is also pointed to as a creationist idea.
According to the Masoretic creation, the world as we know it was created in less than ten days. The world was created in the form of a ground ball, similar to the solar system. It was not created in the form of a solar system, when the sun, moon, and planets were created later in the history of mankind. Therefore, the creationists consider the universe to be very old.
Some creationist writings point to various ancient civilizations such as the Mesopotamian era, the Bronze Age, Egypt, and the Chaldean period as being extremely important in the history of human beings. Among the ancient civilizations, the ancient Egyptians dated the creation of the world using a technique known as Dendera. In addition, the Chaldean, Babylonian, and Hebrew cultures all date the creation of the world using a similar technique. So, if we can date the beginning of human beings from the existence of dinosaurs, then the critics of creationism have given much credit for the fact that all modern humans exist today.
