Snap peas are a legume with a very mild flavor. This is the common name for the vegetable known as snap peas, also known as French artichokes or mungles. The plant is a perennial vine plant that grows up to five feet tall and has gray-green leaves. As a vegetable, it is a tubular vegetable that is harvested by hand and has a bulbous top. It is the edible part of the bean which is white and found in the fleshy roots and the black or red interior seeds which are carried away in the water.
These colorful vegetables come from a climbing plant of the sunflower family called the Bush plant. Sunflowers are the most common source of artichoke, but artichokes also come from a number of other sunflower varieties, including the purple and blue varieties or the blue, purple and gold types. These varieties of the sunflowers differ mainly in their colors depending on the variety, such as the bright yellow, orange and red ones. Other colors of artichoke are dark green, purple, red and black.
Snap peas were originally introduced to France around 1700. They are very similar to the English legume (Lettuce). They can be found across Europe, Asia and North America. Today they are more commonly grown as a food and a vegetable than as a food for human consumption. The reason being because they taste better and are easier to store in the garden when compared to other vegetables or fruits.
In spite of its nutritious content and delicious flavor, Mangetout or snap peas are not as widely consumed as other similar vegetables. This is mainly because they are not very easy to grow and yield little or no results. This is probably because the food is quite expensive to begin with, especially if you use the traditional method of cultivating them in a field using modern pesticides and fertilizers. This method takes a lot of time and is labor intensive. Moreover, it is not easy to find fresh mangetout at your local supermarket or health store due to the fact that this type of vegetable is not grown commercially.
One way to have Mangetout or snap peas at home is to use them as a substitute for potato and other grains such as oats or corn. For instance, instead of cooking stews or soups with potatoes and rice, you can cook them instead with soy beans. It is much healthier and is a much cheaper way of cooking. Furthermore, it does not make much sense to cook stews and soups using potatoes and rice because these foods contain a lot of empty calories and are therefore not very healthy.
Another way to prepare Mangetout or snap peas is to have them in salads. You can dress them with soy bean dips, grilled vegetables, or even as a part of a larger salad. You can have pinto beans in salads to give them a unique flavor. They taste best when they are freshly prepared and cooked. However, if you do not have time to cook freshly cooked Mangetout or snap peas then you can also buy tinned mange at the supermarket which will be just as nutritious and taste just as good as the fresh ones you would get at the market. But you should be careful about the packaging as many tinned foods are not as nutritious as the ones you would get at the market.
