Recent Decisions in Indian Politics

Indian politics is at its best when people are active in the political parties. The freedom for contestation and free speech is allowed by the constitution. The freedom of association is guaranteed in the constitution. All these features make Indian politics the most vibrant democracy. Indian parties work through their candidates in the localities where they are strong. The main political party is the ruling party which is supported by a loose network of regional parties.

The power through politics is the main article in Indian politics. It is the right of every citizen to participate in the selection of the representative of his choice. The power through elections helps the government of India to take decisions about economic policy, national security and help in welfare measures. This decision can be affected by an election campaign. It is the power of voting that will change the future of this nation.

Indian politics is divided into three sections namely, federal politics, state politics and local/territorial politics. The national elections are held throughout the year, except for the four states of India (Hindi speaking states – Hindi-speaking provinces, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh) which hold their elections during the winter session. The national polls are also divided into municipal and civic sectors. The national elections are the main reason of all political parties getting involved in local areas and campaigning for their candidates.

Since there have been no major changes in the constitution since 2021, the upper house of parliament has been unable to change the existing legislation. The upper house, the House of Lokpal, is now dominated by the Congress party with an alliance partner. The ruling party, the Bharatiya Janata Party, or the BJP, is led by the prime minister of India, Mr. Modi. The Congress and the Left parties have been excluded from this alliance. The ruling party has ruled out any changes in the constitution, but this is not good news for the opposition parties who have demanded for an amendment in the constitution.

The present era of Indian politics is marked by increasing communal tension and conflict between the Hindus and the Muslims. There have been communal riots in the past few decades and this has lead to a situation where one community is oppressing another. There have been many cases of communal riots in the last few decades in various states of India. This has been responsible for the emergence of different political parties in India, who have been coming forward to contest for the upcoming elections.

Most of the political parties want to form an alliance with the major parties to increase their chances of winning the upcoming elections. The main issue here is that the politicians cannot hold on to power without a base of support. They have been unable to win a large number of seats in the last few years because most of the states are ruled by a party which is an anti-party.

The last time an independent prime minister was elected was in 1985. Since then there have been three governments led by a single prime minister – Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and former president Mr. Manmohan Singh. The main problem with the current government is that it is not doing well at all in the polls and is trailing behind the party which is in its first mandate, the ruling party. This means that the governing party has to form an alliance with some smaller parties in order to form the government.
