FUSION MUSIC

What is fusion music? It is an innovative style of jazz fusion. It is characterized by an exciting fusion of Western and Indian music. Jazz fusion is a general term used to describe a number of musical styles that evolved during the 1960s when many African-Americans, who had previously only been listeners to western music, began to explore, embrace, and experiment with the more “western” styles of music.

The first major grouping to come up with this fusion were the Duke Ellington-inspired “Doo-Wop” group that went on to become known as the Yard birds. They were joined by such other notable musicians as Larry Carlton, Mark Few’s quartet, and Wes Montgomery. Most of these musicians are known collectively as The Village Rhythm. The group’s recordings are some of the most widely available jazz-rock and fusion music from the early 1970s.

Another group that was active during the early 1970s and has become closely associated with the fusion music is the Bluegrass Group. Formed in December of that year, the band quickly gained popularity due to their versatile and energetic performances. Bluegrass is sometimes referred to as traditional jazz, because it owes a great deal to the older forms of jazz music. One of the best-known members of the Bluegrass Group is Robert Hunter, who goes by the name King Bob. He is a versatile musician who has played blues and gospel music and has also performed regularly with the band Cream.

The birth place of the fusion music can be traced back to the early 1960s. At this point in time, a number of African-American musicians who lived and performed in segregated areas were influenced by the popular music of their peers in the United States. This is what gave birth to such disparate sounds. These early musicians were influenced by such diverse musical styles as psychedelic, folk, metal, calypso, jass, even jazz-rock and even funk. Some of these artists went on to form their own bands, while many went on to form recordings that are now some of the most well-known music of all time.

A number of factors can be attributed to the birth of the fusion music. For starters, the fusion music often started out as rhythmically based and was free of any vocals. As time passed, as more musicians became interested in this newer genre, they infused their own take on this style and created their own unique sound. Also, when some artists decided to get a little more adventurous and experiment with their craft, they found this opportunity to do just that. In addition, as time went on, more artists joined in on the fun by combining several musical genres.

Fusion music continues to evolve even today. While a large number of artists continue to incorporate several musical styles into their songs, some are able to stretch their arms and embrace new sounds and influences. This is something new and interesting in an era that seems to constantly reinvent itself.

Another way that fusion music is changing is in the type of artist that is producing it. Many artists who come from a different style of music such as classical, punk or hip-hop, tend to blend their individual styles together into a new one called ‘fusion’. The fusion music that is being produced today often sounds like nothing you’ve heard before. While classical might have been the dominant sound throughout classical music history, hip-hop and modern classical are leading the way.

The fusion music of today is bold, creative, unique and influential. It is something new and exciting in a world that seems to change its mind constantly. You should definitely take notice if you are looking for a new type of music to listen to, because chances are, you won’t be tired of it in a short period of time.
