How to Prepare Pesarattu

One of the most authentic South Indian dishes is Pesarattu which is a traditional rice preparation made in the state of Andhra Pradesh. While this dish is a popular South Indian meal, you may be wondering how to prepare it right. The traditional recipe was first derived from Andhra Pradesh in the early 16th century. This flavorful preparation is served with typical South Indian foods like dosas, samosas, patulas, rosogollas, idlis, chapatis and rice.

In order to prepare Pesarattu, you need to wash your chicken and rinse thoroughly. Then, in a saucepan, roast two teaspoons of dry clarified butter over low heat for about five minutes. After the short roast, add your chicken pieces and fry in coconut oil for about four minutes. Once the chicken is cooked, you can cut it into few pieces using a cleaver. You can now insert the cut chicken pieces into your heated dosa maker. To make sure that the chicken is cooked well, you can use a thermometer to check for doneness.

Now that the chicken is cooked, you can add other important ingredients. These ingredients will make Pesarattu a spicy and delicious dish. Before serving, make sure to sprinkle some ground ginger on top of Pesarattu. If you do not have ginger, add coriander leaves instead. This will give it a very tangy taste.
