RABINDRA SANGITH MUSIC AND ITS IMPACT ON MODERN INDIA

Rabindra Sangith is a renowned Bengal form of singing and dancing and , composed mostly in Bengali, is known as Rabindra Sangith. This form of art was introduced sometime in the eighteenth century from East Bengal to West Bengal, the present states of India. In Bengal, this form of music and dance was more appreciated and followed by the people there. However, in the early nineteenth century, it started to spread all over the country. Over a period of time, it took different names and was also referred to different styles such as Bengali Traditional Dance, Manipuri Dance, Kuki Dance, and Bengali Ragdoll.

Today, some of the most prominent composers of this form of music are Jeerak Bedi, Subir Waala, Ashok Patki, and Prabhas Patil.. Even today, when you walk into a cinema hall, you would hear a song by Rabindra Sangith.
