India Bharat got its independence on the midnight of 15th August 1947.
After independence, Bharat adopted a written constitution called The constitution of India on 26th January 1950 declaring India as a sovereign democratic republic. The constitution of India is known to be the longest written document which sets out the fundamental rights and duties of the Government and the citizens. It is the supreme law of India which every citizens has to abide.
Dr Bhimarao Ramji Ambedkar was the Chairman of the Drafting committee of the constituion. The other members who drafted the constitution were N Gopalaswami, Alladi Krishnaswamy, K.M.Munshi, S. MolaSaadulla, N.Madhava Rao, and Sri D.P.Khaitan.
A parade called republic day parade is held on this day at Janpath New Delhi exhibiting the tabletos of our rich culture from different parts of the country. Honouring the great contributors in the field of military, arts science, social service and sports to our country is a part of the celeberation.
Also there is a display of war equipments during the parade to show our prowess. This inculcates a sense of nationalism among the youth and younger children.
Some chages are made to the constitution called amendments. There are about 105 amendments to the constitution till date.
