Malnourishment & Hunger

Malnourishment & Hunger is a new exhibition at the British School of Exhibitions in London. It brings together international food leaders and food educators to explore food issues and build awareness. It brings together people from around the world, to share information on food and development, food security, nutrition, food preservation and marketing. Food has become an essential part of our daily lives. Growing and harvesting crops, collecting food grains, preserving them and transporting them are all necessary parts of our lives. The exhibition helps people understand and appreciate the various benefits of food and farming and highlight the need for food assistance.

Knowledge is power, especially when it comes to food issues and Malnourishment & Hunger can help those who wish to improve their knowledge and skills on production and distribution of food grains, not only to help those who are in need, but benefit those who work in developing countries. International students attending schools or colleges all over the world learn Malnourishment & Hunger through distance learning courses and distance education. Many of these programs are funded by the United Kingdom government’s International Development Research Centre (IDSRC).

Malnourishment & Hunger take the issue of food poverty and development very seriously. Food poverty is one of the world’s leading development issues, with the highest rates of child malnutrition and poor nutrition. Through IDFCO, an IDFCO programme was initiated to address the deficiencies in achieving food security and development in developing countries. Through this programme, farmers gain access to technical assistance and education to improve food production and marketing systems. In the process, farmers improve quality of life by creating economic opportunities for themselves, families, and communities. Through the programme food is distributed as economically and socially beneficial to beneficiaries.

Malnourishment & Hunger aim at improving food security, promoting improved health and nutrition, empowering women and promoting economic development. The programme highlights two development goals – the reduction of current poverty and improvement in overall development. To achieve the first goal, research was done to find the causes of poverty and learn how to eliminate it. By implementing appropriate programmes in the agricultural sector, the quality of life of rural families and individuals improves significantly. Those involved in delivering development programs learn methods to improve their access to finance, information, and technology that are required for effective programmes.

Malnutrition & Hunger strive to improve school enrolment and improve school performance. Through an effective implementation programme, enrolment levels in secondary schools and colleges are increasing, and the quality of teaching is rising. Secondary school enrolment rates in developing countries are among the highest in the world, and the number of children in primary school is also increasing. Through IDFCO programmes, children in these conditions are given the opportunity to complete school and gain a proper education. By ensuring that children get a high education, Malnourishment & Hunger ensures that poverty is reduced and social development is promoted.

Malnourishment & Hunger focus on nutrition, improving nutritional status and enhancing nutrition intake through policies and programmes. Programs focus on children’s growth and development, ensuring that children reach their academic and developmental goals. Nutrition programmes include programmes addressing micronutrient requirements and ensuring that children consume a balanced diet. Child Malnutrition and child food insecurity are two major problems Malnourishment & Hunger addresses. In order to ensure that children have the best chance to grow and succeed, the programme works on promoting breastfeeding and ensuring that children are fed with the right nutriments.

The programmes also address the education and awareness of child development. The aim of Malnourishment & Hunger programmes is to improve the conditions in which children receive nutrition and improve the quality of life that they enjoy. These programmes are implemented in countries where poverty and food scarcity are major issues and where child malnutrition and child food insecurity are serious issues.

While aiming at achieving good nutritional status through policies and programmes, Malnourishment & Hunger also strive to ensure that children lead healthy and productive lives. The focus on ensuring a balanced diet ensures that children enjoy a varied and complete diet while also being fed with the right nutrients and avoiding food shortages and allergies. With the right policies and programmes, Malnourishment & Hunger ensure that children have a bright future.
