The empowerment theory further states that women have to play an equal role in the development of society, both as producers and consumers. A part of the effort should be a change in attitudes regarding these issues. The belief that women are the weaker side of the gender equality equation needs to be challenged. In the past, many women have been taught to believe that they are weaker than men, with lesser capabilities for success.
