Acids – Some Interesting Facts

Most of the commonly used acids are monovalent (identical) acids that are used for dissolving certain materials. Usually acids can be grouped into three main categories. First one is polar acid, second is phosphoric acid, and the third one is citric acid. In most cases, the first two types of acids react differently with food materials than the third one. Binary acids can also be classified into different forms. H-form and Z-form acids are the two different forms.

In a process of acid-base reaction, one or more bases are mixed with an alkaline solution. This mixed solution is then added to a solution of sodium hydroxide and water. Organic acids or primary acid or secondary acid participate in the reaction. The mixed solution is then filtered, dried out, and stored at room temperature. After the storage, the acid concentration within the suspension is changed by adding more of the alkali and the water is removed.

For the study of the chemistry of the different acids, many different methods are used. For instance, acetic acid, malic acid, boron, and phosphate salts are some of the known salts. Hydrogen ions (ions of hydrogen) are also important in the process of the acid-base reactions. Different mixtures of organic acids and inorganic salts are prepared, stored, analyzed, and produced.
